Hall damage

There was a flood in the Brunton Memorial Hall in January that badly affected the kitchen area. The Hall is currently closed.

Work has continued apace behind the scenes to rectify the damage. So far, several builders’ quotes have been received; the insurance assessors have visited several times and a specialist contractor has removed the old kitchen cupboards, tiling and fittings and treated the walls for the damp damage.

When everything is fully dried out and the insurance company have authorised the work, refurbishment will begin. Unfortunately, we do not yet have a timeframe for the re-opening of the hall, but we will keep everyone informed via the village notice boards, the newsletter and the website.

As soon as we reopen, we will resume our programme of Community Cafés on the last Friday of the month; Craft and Chat, Bingo!, table top sales and other events.

The presentation by Wessex Internet, that was due to be held in the Brunton Memorial Hall, has been moved to Idmiston Memorial Hall on 9th April at 6pm.

When we reopen the Brunton Memorial Hall, we need more trusted volunteers to help with opening and closing the hall for private hires and events, as well as volunteers to serve tea, coffee and cakes at the Community Cafes. If you can help, please contact tbmhc1@gmail.com
